Unable to Install USB HP printer

Problem Description:

You are unable to Install an USB HP printer on your computer.

You plug the USB cable into the computer however it does not get recognized by the system as a printer.

Cause of the Problem:

Most USB HP printers require that you install the software first BEFORE you connect the printer to the computer.

Connecting the device first registers the device in device manager and does not allow the HP driver software to function as intended.

Solution 1:
During the HP driver software installation you may be asked to connect the device. In some cases you can simply disconnect the USB cable to the printer, wait 15-30 seconds and reconnect the cable. This will force the device manager to refresh and the HP software to see the new device.

Solution 2:
Uninstall the device(s) from the device manager that have question marks, or exclamation marks on them.

After that is complete unplug the USB cable from the printer and install the HP driver software. Follow all steps during the installation.
