When you are using Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, and try to apply an update you get the message: "unable to update your protection. Make sure your internet connection works before trying again."
Restarting the system and disabling the firewall does not resolve the issue, and you are able to browse the internet perfectly fine.
We are not certain as to what causes this particular issue, however it does seem to be showing up on systems that were upgraded from 2007 to 2008, and those that the 2007 version was manually uninstalled first before installing 2008.
Download a hotfix from Trend Micro and try to update again.
Note that you must rename the file extension to .exe manually for this file to run correctly.
Note: On some systems we have found that they are unable to download this update, and it must be downloaded at another system, or another website and copied to the problem computer and run.
