CD Rom drive is not recognized

Problem Description:

In the device manager your CD or DVD drive will have a yellow exclamation mark on it. If you check the properties of the device you will see in the description the following:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

In addition the CD or DVD rom drive will not show up in "My Computer".



Cause of the Problem:

The Upper or Lower filters for the CD Rom class in the registry can not be found. As a result windows will report that it does not know where the device is, when it should report that it does not know where all the drivers are.
